Stacey Mathes, 15, has just completed her rookie year of racing. Before being able to race herself, she attended 360 sprint car races at Placerville Speedway and Silver Dollar Speedway. She mainly got into racing because of her step-dad Shawn Schmitz. Stacey started racing winter of 2005 in Lakeport, California. She ran at Lakeport for about 6 races. After the Lakeport season was over, she made her way to C.O.R.A. Speedway in Dixon, California. In the spring series at C.O.R.A. she won a championship in the 250cc kart division, and finished 2nd in the 250cc summer series also at C.O.R.A. This winter she is running Lakeport for points and making appearances at Red Bluff.
